A Day at Bajrabarahi Clinic

Maya heading to Nepal in March!

A day in the Bajrabarahi clinic

Many of you might of heard that one of our clinic assistants and practice manager Maya has graduated from her Chinese Medicine studies late last year. As a right of passage into her career as a practitioner, she has chosen to embark on a great adventure to Nepal and will be joining Good Health Nepal’s Acupuncture Relief Project (NGO) on a mission to provide Primary Health Care to the Nepalese people in rural villages outside of Kathmandu.

Maya will be based at the Acupuncture Relief Project’s clinic headquarters in Bajrabarahi (about three hours southwest of Kathmandu) and will also head out to the smaller satellite clinics that have been set up, expanding the reach to more people who would otherwise go without the healthcare they need. You can click on the image above to see a cool video of the clinic.

Maya will not only be treating patients, but also helping to educating the clinics interpreters who are also undertaking their acupuncture and rural health studies in Khatmandu, working towards the organisations goal of a year-round operation run by Nepali-born practitioners.

In addition to volunteering her time and energy, Maya is required to raise the money it takes to support their efforts at the clinic. Please consider helping by making a tax deductible donation.

We wish Maya a safe journey and look forward to having her back in the clinic from the last week of May not just as practice manager but also a Chinese Medicine practitioner! Upon her return she will be practicing in Ivanhoe on Tuesday and Thursday evenings till 8pm, as well as Saturday’s.
